Tired of frequent cervical dystonia shots? Consider an alternative
Botulinum toxin is a widely used treatment for cervical dystonia, but many patients find that it wears off before they can get another shot and some have problems with the side effects.
Is there a better answer? Think about volunteering for a research study and help to find out.
A new investigational study drug, DAXI for injection (daxibotulinumtoxinA for injection) is a long-acting form of botulinum toxin. Studies in cervical dystonia and other conditions have shown that its effects last longer than other forms of botulinum toxin. Patients in those studies also had fewer side effects.
The ASPEN study of DAXI for injection is now seeking cervical dystonia patients between the ages of 18 and 80. This is one of the last studies needed before DAXI for injection can be reviewed by the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for potential approval for doctors in the US to prescribe. Patients who qualify for and take part in the ASPEN study will receive the study drug and all study-related care and tests at no charge. The ASPEN study will also reimburse you for reasonable travel expenses for getting to the study clinic.
