H.A. (Buz) Jinnah, M.D., PhD
Director of the Dystonia Coalition
A. (Buz) Jinnah received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees through the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of California in San Diego in 1993. He did his neurology residency and fellowship training at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, and was on the faculty there until 2008. He now is at Emory University in Atlanta, where he is Professor of Neurology, Human Genetics, and Pediatrics. Dr. Jinnah has maintained an active research program funded by the NIH and several private foundations. His research has focused on dystonia, particularly in young people. He has published more than 100 articles and given a similar number of lectures worldwide. He has served on the scientific advisory boards for the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation, the Bachmann-Strauss Dystonia & Parkinson’s Foundation, the Lesch-Nyhan Syndrome Children’s Research Foundation and Tyler’s Hope. Currently, he is director of the Dystonia Coalition, a NIH-funded initiative to stimulate clinical and translational research for all types of primary focal dystonia.
